Parking Project
Whilst the project is postponed and a new date to be confirmed. This page will give you all the information you need in the lead up to its roll out.
Why are we doing this?
It's been a while since we last painted the lines in the car park on Opal Street. We also need to paint the lines at Isabella House.
We've been advising residents that when friends, family, contractors visit, they need to park on double yellow lines. Any driver will know that outside the Estate, they can not park on double yellow lines.
To help standardise the convention on parking, double yellow lines on Cottington Close Estate will be converted into bays.
On conclusion of the project, we encourage residents to ask friends, family and contractors to park in the newly painted bays.
When is it happening?
The project will commence on Tuesday 13 June 2023, Wednesday 14 June and if needed, Thursday 15 June 2023.
The project will start at 08:30 and finish 14:30 on each day.
Who is delivering the project?
We are working with Archway Highway Services. They are an accredited company with a portfolio of successfully completed projects to their name. Photos of which can be found on their website

Their manager, Steve Alexandrou was raised in Kennington (went to Ashmole School in Oval) and is very excited to be working with us for this reason.
What do I need to do?
As you can probably guess, we need to create room for Archway Highway Services to paint the lines.
For vehicle owners, this will mean parking their cars in areas which will be painted the day after. This will also mean those who are parked in areas that need to be painted to move their cars to areas that were painted the day before.
We will be writing to vehicle owners directly. In essence:

Ariel Court/Brutus Opal Street 14 or 15 June
We kindly ask residents to ask that deliveries are made outside of these dates
What about domestic waste collections and emergency services?
Domestic waste collections will occur after 15:00 on the days of the delivery of the project.
We do not envisage complete closure of Opal Street on the days but emergency services have been notified.
Would I get a ticket for parking in the wrong area?
There will be no parking enforcement on the days of the car park is painted. This means you will be able to park on cross hatches.
